In 2014 Pastor Nate and Deen Vedoya began dreaming of what a new community of faith would look like in the Edmonton area. At that time Nate was working for an inner city agency and was loving the opportunities to love, care and share the Gospel with those who were struggling with hurts, habits and hang ups. The dream was about to give birth to a vision!! Habakkuk 2:3 says “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.” As the vision was taking shape so many questions were still to be answered: “What kind of church were we going to be? who were we going to reach? so forth and so. Each step of the way the vision was becoming a reality. In the Spring of 2015 CIV was birthed.

At CIV we believe that it is in the “valleys” of life that we truly experience God. We all want the high of the “mountain top experience” yet we are reminded that it is in the valleys of life that God walks with us “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4, KJV). We are a community of faith that seeks to impact this generation and all nations infusing them to place their trust in God. Over the years we have experienced how God can transform broken lives and how God chooses to use us, His people - imperfect and broken - to care for those who are marginalized and are in need of Jesus’ love.

The story is still being written in fact I believe that we are only in the Prologue of this incredible unfolding of His story!
